I want to know more about the brand, and more importantly how good are there products. When you’re spending this kind of money on a machine, you want to know you’re getting the best.

With so many different companies producing log splitters, it’s important to find out just which company. Has done the most to impress you, and deserving of your patronage. Which is what I hope to accomplish here, with my reviews for SpeeCo log splitters.

About The Company SpeeCo

Researching the company is something I find important when looking at products. Knowing about the company, will tell you a few important things you may of missed without. Like if it’s family owned, then they’re more likely to be of higher quality. Since it’s there name on the box, so to About SpeeCo Log Splittersspeak. So risking there name would be important.

The company has been around for over 50 years, and are owned by Blout Inc. SpeeCo are one the companies that Blout use to market there products. This is actually a good thing in my opinion. Having a big company backing you, means when something goes wrong. There is a good chance that you will be able to get your splitter fixed.

SpeeCo are very focused on making farm life that little bit easier. With how hard it can be, it’s something I do appreciate. So with that in mind, it’s time to get into the reviews, and find out how good they are!

How Does The SpeeCo Electric Log Splitter Hold Up

SpeeCo 5 Ton Electric Log Splitter Review

How Does The SpeeCo Electric Log Splitter Hold Up
If you’re not a fan of small electric log splitters, then this may just be the splitter to change your mind. It’s very impressive for it’s size, and performs a lot better then I was expecting. It’s also very simple to use, since it’s a simple lever operation.

I’m a big fan of single handed operation, I find it more comfortable. It’s not as safe as a two lever system, so that is something to think about. This does also allow you to hold your hand on the log, so it doesn’t move around when trying to split.

How Much Power Does This 5 Ton Splitter Have – What Can It Split?

Like all small wood splitters like this, it has the usual 9 inches in diameter recommendation. The thing with this is that it can split larger logs, but they need to cover themselves. So this splitter can split larger logs, and things I certainly didn’t expect.

I was really surprised this log splitter was able to get through some soft 16 inch logs. These were dried and not very knotted, but I didn’t expect this machine to get through it. This does make it a bit more useful for more then your casual homeowner.

How Fast Is It?

When you’re splitting the recommendation with this splitter, it does take around 14/15 seconds. If you’re putting something a bit larger on it tho. The time will vary and go higher. It’s still one of the quicker smaller log splitters, that aren’t kinetic.

There is one thing that I’ve noticed most people somehow over looked. Is that it has a wing nut on it, that you need to open. If you don’t do this, you will notice a sever lack of splitting power.

Before You Start This Splitter!

Before you start this splitter, you should check all fluid levels. While this seems like common sense, I’ve seen quite a few people not do this. So before you use it, check your hydraulic fluid levels.

Who Is This Splitter For?

While this is a great splitter, it’s not for everybody. If you need to constantly split 20 inch wide logs, then this isn’t the splitter for you. But if you only need to split a little bit a year, and not fully reliant on wood. Then this is the splitter you’re looking for!

Since it’s an electrical splitter, it does something I love. Since there are no fumes, you can split inside. So there is no need to deal with the cold weather outside.

SpeeCo 22 Ton Option – Is It Any Good?

SpeeCo 22 Ton Gas Log Splitter Review

SpeeCo 22 Ton Option - Is It Any Good?
When it comes to these larger splitters, the most important thing is the engine, and pump they have. These are the most important parts of the machine, like the brain and heart to put it simply. The pump on this machine is two stage 11 GPM pump, which isn’t undersized for this model.

The engine is what I personally like the most. Since SpeeCo made the smart choice, of putting a Briggs & Stratton motor on it. This is a solid engine, but it does occasional seize up sadly. This may happen, even if you do keep it properly filled up. This didn’t happen to me, I’ve just gotten reports of it happening.

What Logs Can This Splitter Handle?

This log splitter has one of the best features any log splitter can have. That’s it’s ability to go into a vertical position. This is an amazing feature, since it makes a 22 ton splitter, split like a 30+ ton. This is if you split smart of course. This is great if you have a bad back especially.

The actual answer to this questions isn’t so simple because of this feature. In it’s vertical mode it will handle logs that are easily 20 inches wide. So it is a great addition to your household, especially if you rely on wood a lot more then most.

How Much Do You Get On One Tank?

This is something a lot of people don’t consider when it comes to gas splitters. How long can you run it for, before it runs dry. With this machines I found it roughly lasted for hour or two, which is a good amount of splitting time.

Speed Matters!

If you manage to get an ideal log and situation, this splitter can split as low as 11 seconds. Tho in my testing I found it more to be along the lines of 13 seconds. 13 seconds, and this much power is a great combination.

Why Should You Use SpeeCo Splitters, Over Any Other Brand?

This is a good question and something you should ask yourself. There are a lot of manufactures out there all vying for your hard earned. So what makes SpeeCo more deserving? This is a tough question, there is a lot of quality on the market at the moment. A lot of them also have the backing of a large company, making them

getting repaired easier.

So why do they deserve it? In my opinion there splitters do enough to earn it. There log splitters are high quality, and they don’t cheap out on parts. They’re also reliable splitters which is something you really want in your tools. As I mentions they also have the backing of a company, so when the inevitable happens. And you need to get it repaired, it’s easier.

These are the things I look for in my splitters, and are some of the most important reasons in my opinion. So some of these reasons may not be exactly what you need. Which is why I have a lot of other reviews for other companies. If you’re interested in those, you can find them here.

SpeeCo Gas, Or SpeeCo Electric Log Splitter – What To Choose?

The gas vs electric debate feels almost as old as time itself now days. Tho it’s starting to get less and less simple to answer. It use to be as simple as gas is more powerful, and electric required less maintenance. That’s just not the case anymore, electric have come a long way over the years. This argument doesn’t apply when it comes to SpeeCo. Since there electric option is only 5 tons.

So this argument gets very simple from here. If you’re only after a small electric splitter, to split some tougher then expected logs. Then this SpeeCo electric is a great option. If you need to split much larger, knottier logs. Then the Gas splitter is the only way to go in this situation.

My Final Thoughts On These SpeeCo Wood Splitters

There are a lot to like about these two log splitters, and comparing them is apples to oranges. The easiest thing to say about them, is that they both excel at there own set of tasks. So the best recommendation I can give is. If one of them suits what you need then I have no drama in recommending it to you. They’re both really good splitters.

If I had to absolutely pick a preference out of the two? I would actually go with the 5 ton electric. While when I split at home I require more then those 5 tons. It was just a really solid splitter, that I could see working really well beside my 37 ton machine. Which is another bonus of the smaller splitter.
